Car insurance: New tyre could help 4x4 drivers

Thursday, 26 February 2009

Motorists keen to improve the safety credentials of their 4x4s may find a new tyre could reduce their chances of being forced to make a car insurance claim, it has been reported.

According to Michelin, its Latitude Cross product is perfect for drivers who want the comfort, handling and safety offered by a regular tyre combined with excellent off-road capabilities.

The new car part is designed to provide the same grip on loose ground as a specialist tyre.

Michelin claimed its traction in mud and challenging driving conditions is similar to that provided by all-terrain tyres.

It stated: "The goal was to overcome the inherent difficulties in combining on-road and off-road performance."

The company added: "That goal has now been achieved, thanks to Michelin's advanced, innovative solutions."

By opting for specialist tyres like these, 4x4 drivers may find they help to protect the no-claims bonus on their low cost motor insurance.
