ABTA launches Get Fit for Ski campaign

Skiers who are jetting off over the festive period to enjoy a Christmas on the slopes are being advised that it is important to prepare to avoid potential injuries when hitting the white stuff.

The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has launched its Get Fit for Ski campaign, which first of all urges people to make sure they have comprehensive travel insurance, a point also made by Defqto last month, when it said that only one in ten policies cover winter sports.

ABTA estimates that a million Brits will be heading off to ski resorts this year, and stresses the importance of being prepared. The association says that making sure to warm up and practice is important, as well as knowing the limitations of individual's skills to avoid injury.

Nikki White, head of destinations and sustainability, ABTA, said: "Preparing before you go can help prevent injury and ensure you don't miss out on the fun."
