'Add value' with a kitchen

Saturday, 25 August 2012

Home insurance holders are often looking for ways to hike-up the value of the house they live in, and kitchen-changes can be a way to achieve this.

When it comes to refurbishing, it's probable that doing up a kitchen is going to present the largest single cost, Egerton Designs's Alexi Sugden recently explained.

They can set you back between £3,000 and £50,000 as ballpark figures, she explained.

But she says that putting in what she calls "a well-designed modern kitchen" will be worth the cash and time it takes.

This "will greatly add value to your home so that when you come to move, the kitchen will always influence buyers and increase the speed of offers," she said.

One tip she gave was that it would generally be more affordable to purchase appliances through major retailers instead of through a package deal.

Talking about kitchen colour choices recently, In-toto Swindon kitchen designer David Moore explained that: "In larger kitchens a contrast of colour for the base units and tall units with wood looks very contemporary and is fully on the fashion button."
