Monday, 02 October 2006

Action enthusiasts who took part in the UK Adventure Film Festival need to more aware of the small details on their travel insurance policy.

This is the first year of the film festival which included over 50 cinemas who broadcast the latest in adventure films. Storm chaser Sean Casey documented his journey to the vortex of a tornado, while Ewan McGregor's mammoth motorbike trip is documented in Long Way Round.

Jim Odoire, the festival organiser, told the Independent that his favourite film on show is Berserk: "It is about a twenty something Norwegian who wakes up one morning and decides to buy a yacht. He sails to Antarctica, picking up two hitchhikers on the way."

"Most of these film-makers have a screw loose," he added. Other action sports featured include parachuting and bungee jumping.

If you have been inspired by adventure films and fancy trying your hand at an extreme sport abroad, it is extremely important to check you are covered by your travel insurance policy for sporting activities.

Be extra vigilant to sports with similar names, for example you may be covered for paragliding but not parascending by your cheap travel insurance.
