People thinking of starting up a business from home should make sure their home insurance is adequate, according to one site.

At Letmebuildit.co.uk one blogger said that with unemployment rising, setting up a home business is difficult to get going and that extra insurance is taken out in case of an accident on the property or if disaster strikes.

They added that home insurance quotes should include content cover for business equipment, up to around a value of £5,000. However, some policies may already provide adequate protection.

Furthermore, the blogger noted if the home business employs staff, then specialist insurance that covers employees, in addition to the owner should be taken out as well, in case of any potential lawsuits.

Recently, it was revealed that people failing to switch their property cover is costing the UK £1.7 billion annually, and that on average a household can save £94.63 if they swapped to a deal with lower home insurance premiums.
