Travel insurance: People 'should not have to pay extra for good service'
Wednesday, 08 April 2009
Holidaymakers who have bought flight tickets and purchased travel insurance should not have to shell out more money once they arrive at the airport for services that should be complimentary, it has been claimed.
Which? Holiday magazine made this comment after Luton Airport introduced a paid queue jump.
Customers who take advantage of this service hand over £3 and are ushered straight through to the security check point.
Jonathan Mitcham, principal researcher at Which? Holiday magazine said the idea was flawed as if it becomes popular another long queue will be created.
He added: "You are just paying a second charge to get a service that you should have got in the first place without paying that extra charge."
Meanwhile, Which? Holiday's airport report published this month found 80 per cent of customers were satisfied with Blackpool airport, compared to 31 per cent who were happy with Heathrow's Terminal One.
Brits heading overseas may find travel insurance provides valuable peace of mind in the event of cancelled flights.
