Almost 25% of Brits won't go on holiday this year

Almost a quarter of Brits are not taking a summer holiday this year, according to our research.

Our Life Index report revealed to travel insurance customers that due to financial pressures, mounting workloads and job fears that many people will not go on vacation in 2011.

However, the survey highlighted that for many Brits who will get away on a break this year over five million said they would check their work email while abroad, and 1.5 million will do work duties for their employers during their holiday.

Amanda Edwards, senior marketing manager at swiftcover.com, said: "According to our research, not only are huge numbers of people sacrificing their holidays to fend off the threat of job loss, but those going away for a break are having to report back to the office on work while away."

Recently, moneysupermarket.com stated that it is important to plan ahead for a vacation and make sure people get the right travel insurance policy for them.
