Travel insurance: Asia Pacific region becoming more popular

Thursday, 02 April 2009

More Brits may be looking for travel insurance cover for holidays to the Asia Pacific region this summer, if the comments of one industry group are anything to go by.

According to Expedia, people from the UK are switching from destinations such as Europe and the USA in favour of places like Thailand.

Last month, the Thai government announced visitors to the country would not have to pay a fee for their tourist visa applications between March 5th and June 4th.

Expedia claimed measures like this will certainly help to increase the popularity of a destination.

Head of product marketing Jonathan Cudworth stated it was a "wise decision" that would help the country take advantage of the growing popularity among tourists of the Asia Pacific area.

"Any measures that reduce the cost of a holiday can only be beneficial for consumers and will help stimulate demand for that particular destination," he explained.

Brits keen to keep the costs of a foreign getaway down may find searching for cheap travel insurance online can help.
