Bathroom buyers 'buying smarter' these days

Bathroom buyers are 'buying smarter' these days, according to one bathroom expert.

Doubtless many of those who have recently done out their bathrooms and would put themselves in this category will have been home insurance holders.

Mereway Bathrooms Tim Wood explained that, while people continued to shell out cash in the direction of their bathrooms, the current state of the economy has lead to people "buying smarter".

By this he meant they were deciding to buy having researched their purchase thoroughly, looking at what was available.

But it seems that this technique isn’t impacting negatively on the actual cash their laying out when it comes to bathrooms.

"We are seeing an increased spend if anything, which we believe is due to a considered purchase of a high quality bathroom that adds value to the home, rather than a quick bathroom makeover with a view to selling the house," Mr Wood said.

He said that people putting money into bathrooms that were "stylish [and] well thought out" indicated that they were making an investment "in a room that they intend to enjoy now and in the future, rather than leave behind in due course."

"There's certainly a trend for sleek design and maximising space in what inevitably is quite a small bathroom area," Mira showers' Roger Crabb said of trends in bathrooms recently.
