Beat inflation with cheap city breaks
Thursday, 15 December 2011
For people looking to negate the effects of inflation this year whilst getting away for a quick city break abroad, the best deals can be found in Turkey and the Czech Republic.
According to research conducted by M&S Money, the cheapest city to travel to is Istanbul. The Turkish capital has bucked the rate of inflation in this country, and travel insurance customers can find themselves with holidays at ten per cent cheaper than the same time last year.
For those who want to travel a shorter distance for their break, deals can be found in Prague at pretty much the same prices as last year. The Czech capital offers three day breaks for an average of £591.
Paul Stokes, head of travel money, M&S Money, said: "Autumn is always a popular time for city breaks and right now, there are some great value destinations to take advantage of, thanks to lower inflation and favourable exchange rates."
People are reminded to buy travel insurance for their trip, after the Association of British Travel Agents reported last month that a fifth of Brits travel abroad without any.
