Best Selling Cars of April 2013

Tuesday, 21 May 2013

With car sales in the UK jumping by an astounding 15% in April, British motorists are showing an insatiable hunger for the best new cars on the market. Let’s take a look at the most popular vehicles of the last 30 days to see what’s driving the motoring revival.

1. Ford Fiesta (8,063 sold)

With a price tag of up to £17,995, the Ford Fiesta certainly isn’t the cheapest car on the market, but that hasn’t stopped it selling at an impressive rate of around 268 units a day in April. This top car’s best selling point is undoubtedly its fuel economy - frugal motorists can travel for 100 miles for around £7, and with CO2 output as low as 87 g/km, drivers will also benefit from a reasonably low tax band.

2. Vauxhall Corsa (6,084 sold)

A decent ride, comfortable handling and reasonable price make the new Corsa a top choice for families, and this target market has driven it to the number two spot in April’s figures. Whilst it isn’t the fastest car around, it’s still nippy enough for the school run and daily commute, and the ecoFLEX models deliver impressive and consistent fuel savings.

3. Ford Focus (5,944 sold)

The ever-popular Focus has a reputation for the finest quality ride and handling in its class, and with a top engine size of 2.0 Turbo Diesel, this is a great option for anyone looking to get around with speed and style. Noise suppression technology makes it perfect for motorway driving, and with an average price tag of around £15,000, it’s a relatively affordable family car with a touch of class.

4. Volkswagen Golf (5,283 sold)

No list of top cars would be complete without a nod to Volkswagen, and their reliable Golf managed to secure the number four spot with 5,283 sales in April. Boasting a five-star rating from Which?, the Golf is a leader in its class, with sophisticated suspension, a stylish dashboard layout and an attractive exterior. The only thing keeping it off the top is the price, with the most expensive models costing up to £26,500.
