Car insurance: Boxter named Britain's favourite motor

Friday, 01 September 2006

The Porsche Boxter has been rated Britain’s most loved car with 98 per cent of owners happy to recommend it to a friend, a survey revealed today.

A poll conducted by the Which? Car website also showed the Mazda MX-5 to be in second place, followed by the Land Rover Discovery, Toyota Yaris Verso and Honda CR-V.

Britain's least favourite car is the Rover 25 with owners having little good to say about it apart from its roomy boot.

Other unpopular cars included the Land Rover Freelander, Rover 45, Vauxhall Vectra, Fiat Stilo and Peugeot 306.

Editor of Which? Car, Richard Headland described the survey in more detail: "We collected information on more than 32,000 cars this year from the people who know best – the owners. We also carry out our own expert road tests and rate safety and security to give new or used car buyers straightforward, no-nonsense advice."

Which? Car can be viewed at and includes news on the motor industry, information on buying and selling a car and comprehensive analysis of cheap car insurance, including low cost motor insurance firms such as Swiftcover.
