Travel Insurance: Christmas breaks for 12% of Britons
Monday, 04 December 2006
Around 12 per cent of the population are heading abroad for the festive break, according to new research.
GfK NOP, a research company, interviewed 1,000 people to find that Spain, Italy and France are the most popular destinations at this time of year.
The report also showed that eight per cent of yuletide holiday goers forget to pack their cheap travel insurance.
Robert O' May, a travel insurance manager, said: "Taking a break at Christmas is a perfect way to escape the cold British climate, or leave behind the stresses and strains of a busy 2006 with a winter sports break.
"Whatever your plans this Christmas, if you are travelling overseas, ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place should you encounter any problems."
If you are travelling to Europe then don't forget to take a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) plus your travel insurance documents. The EHIC replaces the old E111 and you will need both documents to ensure you have adequate protection.
