Brits warned to take out the right cover

Tuesday, 14 June 2011

People need to ensure that when they go on holiday they have the right cover and protection in case of any mishaps.

This is according to one expert, who noted that taking out travel insurance provides Brits with an extra safety net on a host of things including, illness, injury, flight delays and cancellations.

James Daley, editor of Which? Money, told the BBC: "The biggest mistake that people make is taking out too little cover. It can be well worth spending an extra pound or two to get higher cover levels."

Mr Daley added that it is important that Brits read what their policy will protect them for and how much for.

Recently, Defaqto revealed that nearly 50 per cent of annual travel insurance policies will not cover children holidaying independently from their family.

Mike Powell, insight analyst for general insurance at the company, added that it is imperative people get in touch with their providers to check what protection they have in place.
