Travel insurance: Brits travel again as World Cup 'ends'

Monday, 03 July 2006

Although the World Cup is only at the semi-final stage, it is certainly over for many across Europe as their teams bow out of the tournament.

But this means non-football fans can finally get away on holiday – and even pick up cheaper deals to the continent as most England fans are trudging back the other way.

Various holiday firms and cheap flight airlines are beginning to offer better deals again, as anyone sporting an England shirt or pair of comedy Viking horns is getting out of Germany quick.

But travellers looking to snare a last minute bargain to the German countryside or indeed anywhere else in Europe are being urged not to forget their travel insurance when they book online.

Travellers need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) when heading overseas, but this is often not enough to cover you. Loss from theft and damage to valuables for instance is not covered by the card and extra cover is required.

So Brits hoping to put the World Cup behind them, head off to sunny climes and relax while thinking of Euro 2008 are reminded to shop around online for cheap travel insurance quotes.
