Travel insurance: Don't forget cover for last-minute business trips
Monday, 08 March 2010
Travel insurance can easily be forgotten about when a last minute business trip crops up.
However, travel specialist Antony Martin, writing for FreshBusinessThinking.com, is urging people to remember it is still essential to get cover for any trip, whether it is for work or leisure.
He pointed out that if booking last minute the chances of cancelling are reduced, so people should look for a travel insurance policy with little or no cancellation fee to save themselves up to 15 per cent of the cost.
Mr Martin also advised that another way to avoid airline charges and get cheap travel insurance was to pack hand luggage only.
"During the stress of packing, catching cabs and booking business meetings abroad you don't want to have to worry about having the right travel insurance," he said.
"It's safer to be prepared and know where to book when that last minute businesses trip comes up."
On a separate note, the Association of British Insurers has advised business travellers who may be affected by the forthcoming British Airways strike that it is still not too late to buy travel insurance.
