Car insurance: Vehicle buyers 'are turning to the web'
Thursday, 11 December 2008
Motorists who buy their car insurance online may soon also start purchasing vehicles via websites, it has been suggested.
A poll by used motor retailer Autoquake revealed some 76 per cent of drivers are more open to the idea of buying cars online than they were a year ago.
The survey also found 81 per cent of people believed they would get a better deal by purchasing a vehicle via the web.
Autoquake claimed the change in attitude may be a result of the current economic downturn.
Fredrik Skantze, chief marketing officer with the group, stated: "We have seen more than a 260 per cent increase in website traffic from 85,000 to 222,000 unique visitors per month ... since the credit crunch started to take hold."
Meanwhile, Autoquake announced earlier this year that people who wanted to get their hands on some celebrity memorabilia could bid for Chris Eubank's Hummer H2 on its website.
