Car insurance: Youngster given Asbo after car crime

Tuesday, 08 July 2008

A young boy from Milton Keynes has been given an Anti-Social Behaviour Disorder (Asbo) after a series of vehicle-related crimes, a development that could have a good impact on the car insurance of drivers in the area.

Under the rules of the Asbo, the youngster will not be able to associate with others who have been responsible for such behaviour in the past, reports the Milton Keynes Citizen.

The 14-year-old is now banned from the Conniburrow estate, where many of the crimes have taken place.

Police Constable Dave Goodwin told the publication that this will hopefully mean some of the episodes of bad behaviour or no longer witnessed.

"It is rare in Milton Keynes to use an Asbo against a juvenile, but on this occasion the degree of offending and the impact on the local community was of such a high level the order was viewed as an appropriate option," he commented.

Recently in Newcastle, 32-year-old Brian Slasor appeared in court in connection with the theft of a vehicle in Tynemouth in 2007, reports the News Guardian.
