Car insurance: Rates 'down in third quarter'

Monday, 08 October 2007

On average, car insurance premiums have dropped by 9.5 per cent in the third quarter of the year, according to new figures released by Insurancewide.com.

The price comparison site said that between July and September, the average premium in the UK was £626, while between April and June the figure was £693.

Chief executive at Insurancewide.com James Harrison stated that the figures suggest that there is an increased amount of pressure on insurance firms to provide customers with competitive deals.

"Our motor insurance comparison service has access to all types of rates from almost the entire UK insurance market, all of which we draw from when we guide our customers to the most relevant insurer for their needs," he commented.

He added, though, that he doesn't expect rates to fall much further.

The company says that it uses up to date technology in the attempt to provide users with a high standard comparison service.
