Motor insurance: 'There are alternatives'
Thursday, 15 May 2008
Motorists do not have to settle for the car insurance premiums they have and can look around for alternatives, the British Insurance Brokers' Association has stated.
Insurers have raised their rates in recent years to help pay for advertisements, the firm said.
Yet drivers do not have to "accept" the changes when they occur and some insurers will inevitably offer cheaper deals than the ones they are on, technical and corporate affairs executive at the organisation Graeme Trudgill argued.
He added that there are always other options for consumers despite what they may believe.
Insurance brokers can usually help in most circumstances, Mr Trudgill asserted, with these being the strongest options for drivers confused by changes.
In total, 28 per cent of drivers polled by MoneyExpert.com have said that they remained with their insurance provider despite a rise in premiums. Additionally, 30 per cent chose to change.
