Car insurance: Warning after car thefts
Tuesday, 12 February 2008
Motorists in Chipping Norton have been told to keep their items safe after a series of car thefts in the area.
Vehicles in Great Rollright and Over Norton were targeted by the thieves on Wednesday (February 6th) and Thursday (February 7th), police officers confirmed, as reported by the Banbury Guardian.
Items stolen as part of the spree include credit cards, cooking products and a number of bibles, police remarked.
West Oxfordshire Police's Sergeant Craig Kirkby urged people with any information about the incidents to come forward.
"There is only so much the police can do to prevent these sorts of crimes taking place, especially in remote areas, and motorists need to do more to stop themselves becoming victims of crime," he also offered to the publication.
He added that motorists can take measures to ensure that criminals do not have an easy ride, such as placing valuable things out of sight when left in cars.
Drivers should ensure that they have a viable car insurance policy in place so that they are covered in the event of theft.
Police recently warned drivers to improve their measures against thieves in Cheshire after a spate of break-ins, the Cheshire Evening Leader said.
