Wednesday, 02 September 2009

More Brits may be tempted to take out travel insurance, pack a suitcase and jump on a plane to the Caribbean for a bit of winter sun in the coming months, if comments from one holiday group are anything to go by.

According to On the Beach, the fact several airlines have increased the number of flights to this particular destination should drive prices down, making trips there more affordable.

Marketing director Alistair Daly explained the strengthening euro was also contributing to the growing popularity of getaways to the Caribbean.

He stated: "Whilst the flight costs are higher than those to Europe, in-resort costs are often much lower."

This comes after British Airways announced it is planning to introduce new routes to Barbados, Grenada and St Kitts next year.

Meanwhile, holidaymakers keen to keep costs to a minimum may find some of the best deals on cheap travel insurance are available online.
