Travel insurance: Fares will fall
Thursday, 20 September 2007
Although other costs such as travel insurance and currency exchange may be unavoidable, the cost of flying to another country is likely to come down next year thanks to the open skies policy, it is claimed.
James Fremantle, a spokesperson for the Air Transport Users Council, noted that the changes in regulation will see more airlines offering cheap flights to the US.
This is due to the fundamental change that carriers will no longer be limited in the locations to which they ferry passengers, he explained.
"At the moment only some airlines can fly certain routes, but next year all routes will be available to all airlines. Fares should come down as a result," said Mr Fremantle.
It was recently reported by Travel Mole that British Airways is preparing to increase its flights to New York, Seattle and Washington in the wake of the changes.
US fans may wish to start searching for the cheapest travel insurance deals now.
