Car insurance: Scheme ends in Ravensthorpe
Monday, 17 March 2008
A road safety initiative has taken place in Ravensthorpe, Yorkshire, in the attempt to lower the number of accidents there.
The highways department at Kirklees council worked with various bodies such as schools, councillors and police officers in the bid to create a specific plan, notes the Dewsbury Reporter.
As part of the scheme training was given out at Ravensthorpe infant school, something that will be done again next month.
Headteacher at the school Linda Whittaker stated that she is very pleased with the developments.
She told the publication: "I have been worried about the number of children hurt on the roads around our school and I am very pleased that the council is carrying out road safety measures."
Ms Whittaker added that everyone in the community can form a partnership in the attempt to lower the amount of accidents seen.
The authorities recently staged a road safety initiative at Bridgwater College, Somerset.
Drivers caught breaking the law may find that their car insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.
