Car insurance: Children take part in safety drive

Thursday, 08 May 2008

Youngsters in Cheshire have looked to take advantage of an initiative that attempts to make them safer near the roads.

Pupils who attend St Clare's RC Primary School and Dee Point Primary School in Chester were both offered the chance to learn about road safety, reports the Evening Leader.

Attendees were taken to the roadside by volunteers who had decided to help out for the Road Safety Unit at Cheshire county council.

Children's services executive member at the County Hall David Rowlands stated that it is vitally important youngsters get to be knowledgeable in this area.

"By teaching children these vital skills, we hope this in turn will encourage parents to walk to school with their children and therefore reduce traffic and congestion at the school gate," he told the publication.

This week, Cycling England stated that less children are being allowed out on the roads by their parents as they are worried about traffic.

Car insurance premiums are available for those concerned about road collisions.
