Motor insurance: One million to drink drive this Christmas

Friday, 01 December 2006

Drink driving campaigns are not stopping an estimated four million car drivers from drink driving over the Christmas holidays, says new research.

One car insurance company surveyed motorists to find that one million car drivers predict they will drive when over the limit this Christmas, while a further three million believe that opening the car windows is a sufficient stimulant to overcome tipsiness behind the wheel.

Frances Browning, from the company, said: "Drivers should seriously consider the need to take the car before heading out for a Christmas drink.

"If they do end up drinking alcohol and have the car with them, they must find an alternative mode of transport to get home."

Having an accident while drunk will not only damage the premiums for your cheap car insurance but it could also land you in hot water with the police and most importantly, drunk drivers can injure and kill.
