Car insurance: 'Be cautious this Christmas'
Monday, 22 December 2008
Drivers who want to avoid a car insurance claim this Christmas are being urged to be cautious when taking to the road to visit loved ones.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) pointed out driving conditions can be particular hazardous at this time of year, adding it is important people take care.
It suggested drivers allow extra time for journeys and plan tips carefully, letting someone know their intended route and estimated time of arrival.
People keen to reduce their chances of having to make a motor insurance claim were also advised to check the weather forecast before leaving.
In addition to this, IAM stated: "Avoid having loose items in the vehicle. The last thing you need is a broken present after all the shops are shut."
Previously, the group warned motorists never to get behind the wheel if there is the slightest chance they could still have alcohol in their systems.
