Car insurance: Scarborough crash 'leads to arrest'

Friday, 11 January 2008

A man has been arrested after a car collision in Scarborough, in which vehicles were damaged.

Two parked cars - a Peugeot 206 CC and Volkswagen - were hit by an oncoming vehicle during the incident and moved away from a footpath, reports the Scarborough Evening News.

One of the owners, Jane Edwards, 47, told the publication that cars on the stretch of Jubilee Terrace regularly drive too quickly and it is lucky serious injuries were not the result of the incident.

"I was sat inside and suddenly I heard this huge thud. I went straight to the window and saw what had happened. I then ran outside and asked the lads that were in the car if they were OK," she commented.

Another local - whose partner owns the other car - stated that the driver of the moving vehicle must have been travelling at a fast speed.

Drivers involved in collisions could find that their car insurance premiums are impacted upon.

Campaigners in Crewe have intensified their battle to get speed bumps put at an accident blackspot in the town, it was reported earlier this week by the Crewe Chronicle.
