With the British nights now becoming lighter, people should ensure that they keep their gardens secure to discourage thieves from stealing any furniture or garden equipment from them.

Robbers are aware that there will be more possessions on show in gardens now that the days are longer, making it more important for residents to clean-up the garden in the early evening to guarantee nothing is on show or left lying around.

A securely locked shed could lower the probability of being robbed, but it would be even more beneficial if people placed furniture, tools and other goods in a garage or even inside the house to maximise protection.

As well as this, homeowners should make sure that items in their garden are covered by their home insurance, especially if these goods are of high value, such as an expensive barbeque or a lavish bike.

Garden equipment can be worth hundreds of pounds and thieves are conscious of its value, so it is important that residents are not caught out by them.
