Music fans who are attending festivals this summer are being advised to add personal possessions cover to their home insurance in order to protect against theft.

Individuals going to events like Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight or T in the Park should consider taking out some extra cover on their home insurance, according to moneysupermarket.com.

Julie Owens from the price comparison site said: "It's important Brits are on their guard against opportunistic thieves."

Ms Owens also stated that tents will often be left unattended for several hours at a time, meaning it is important to make sure valuable possessions are kept with people at all times, as contents insurance may not cover them.

She added that spending the money required for extra insurance will be a "small price to pay".

However, she also said that those unlucky enough to be victim of theft may find that home contents policies will cover them for items such as iPods and iPhones.

And don't forget tomorrow on the Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio, Swiftcover is sponsoring the BrekFest, which will be coming live from a listener's garden - don't miss out.
