Car insurance customers shelled out a collective GBP4.6 million at a recent convertible auction.

More than 400 motors were sold at the Lex Autolease sale at BCA Blackbushe on Saturday (April 17th), with not one vehicle left at the end.

The event followed a beach theme and attracted 350 buyers and more than 100 dealers bidding online.

Top performers on the day were a 0555 plate BMW 330 CD SE which went for GBP12,000, while an 0656 Audi A4 2.0 was sold for GBP17,000.

Other bargains picked up by car insurance customers included an 0505 Porsche 911 3.8 Carrera Sport - which was picked up by one lucky driver for GBP36,500 - and an 0757 BMW 630 CI 3.0 Sport which cost GBP30,700.

Simon Rossiter, Lex Autolease senior manager, valuations and auctions, said the event was a huge success.

"This was the best convertible sale we have held to date in terms of turnover and conversion," he added.
