Car insurance: Customer service comes out tops

Almost 90 per cent of claimants are satisfied with the service provided by their motor insurance provider, according to new research.

The General Insurance Market Research within Aura (GIMRA) Motor Claims Survey found that 87 per cent of drivers who had made a claim on their car insurance were happy with the way it was handled.

A further 84 per cent had their settlement expectations met or exceeded.

GIMRA surveyed 2,800 car insurance customers for the study, which involved 15 of the country's leading motor insurers.

Commenting on the study, Rosie Hayes, chair of GIMRA, said: "It is imperative for insurers to ensure policyholders receive the best possible service when making a claim".

Last month Swiftcover.com was named the UK's best "Value for Money" car insurer by Lovemoney.com.

Swiftcover.com also recently revealed the dedication of its staff towards customers, with some employees trudging through the January snow in order to make it to work.
