An agency that looks to highlight the benefits of cycling has suggested that many bike users have been dissuaded because of dangerous roads.Cycling England stated that a high proportion of children have been banned from cycling by their parents as they do not think it is safe.Despite this, just three per cent of those polled know someone directly who has been involved in an accident.Philip Danton, chairman of Cycling England, noted that road safety is vitally important but there is a small risk of accidents occurring.He commented: "Every parent will want to ensure their children are kept safe, but they can't live out their lives within the shadows of the cul-de-sac, never able to venture further away from home."Mr Danton added that a good amount of training needs to be offered to youngsters to improve their safety on the roads.Recently, schools minister Kevin Brennan visited a school on Tyneside that offers a number of cycling initiatives.Drivers involved in accidents may find that their car insurance premiums are impacted upon.Compare Car Insurance - The cheapest on average
