Do what you think 'is special' at home says expert
Friday, 05 October 2012
An expert has said that people should do what they think is special when it comes to interior design.
"I think you've got to have the confidence to put things together in a way that you feel is special to yourself," explained Habitat creative director Polly Dickens recently.
Many home insurance holders will have their own likes and dislikes in the area of interior design that they could hone in on to put her advice into action.
Ms Dickens suggested combining contemporary elements with inherited elements or items discovered on car boot sale trips.
Combine elements "in an individual way" she advised, downplaying the importance of fashion.
"There's a lot of talk about specific trends, but actually it is all about personality, and creating a home that you feel comfortable in that's unique and special to yourself," she advised.
She also said that people ought to consider using colour in homes as autumn approaches.
"Furniture styles are going back to more handmade, one-off, unique pieces - rather than high-gloss, hard and minimal," claimed Sunainteriordesign.com's Rebecca Tucker recently.
