Car insurance: Drivers 'refusing to cut back on essentials'

Wednesday, 19 August 2009

Motorists who have reduced their outgoings in the face of the recession by securing the cheapest online car insurance may well appreciate that there are some things a driver should not cut back on, if the findings of a new survey are anything to go by.

Automotive website conducted research that found the majority of vehicle owners have refused to skimp on servicing and repairs, despite financial pressures.

Some 82 per cent of the motorists questioned said they had not delayed garage appointments because of the economic downturn.

Honest John stated: "It was encouraging to see that motorists appear not to be putting vehicle maintenance at risk because of the recession."

The poll also found 77 per cent of drivers return to the same garage year in and year out because they feel like they have built up a relationship with the company and can trust the people working there.

Similarly, individuals who enjoy fast, efficient service when they are buying their motor insurance may be more inclined to stick with their provider when renewal time comes round.
