Car insurance: DVLA launches new vehicle tax line
Monday, 02 November 2009
DVLA has launched a new memorable 0300 telephone line for car insurance customers to tax their vehicles.
The new number, 0300 1234 321, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and takes less than four minutes to use, automatically checking that correct insurance and MOT documents are in place.
Andrew Rhodes, DVLA's director of products and services, said: "We listened when our customers told us they wanted to have the option to interact digitally with DVLA, and we are constantly aiming to improve our services.
"By providing a new memorable renewal number we hope to make it even easier for motorists to tax their vehicle."
The DVLA has also warned that it is cracking down on rogue dealers of illegal number plates.
Laws introduced last year made it an offence to supply number plates that do not comply with the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 and provided DVLA with the powers to bring its own prosecutions against number plate suppliers who break the law.
