Car insurance customers have been warned that the roads this Easter will be exceptionally busy, in stark contrast to the last couple of years when things have been comparatively quiet.

Trafficmaster predicts that many families will take advantage of the first major holiday break of the year and head away for the weekend, making the roads extremely busy.

Georgina Reed, from the traffic management firm, said that after a terrible winter, car insurance policyholders will be keen to enjoy the suns rays in some of the country's nicest locations.

"It's anticipated that the majority of Britain's registered road vehicles will be on the road at some time over the Easter weekend, with Maundy Thursday on April 1st likely to be the busiest day across the Easter holiday period," she stated.

To ease traffic congestion, most road works will be suspended, allowing motor insurance customers to travel to their destinations more easily.
