Motor insurance: Speeding 'a concern' in Essex

Wednesday, 14 May 2008

Essex police have identified speeding as one of the biggest concerns for residents of the county.

Representatives from the force will give a presentation at a national road safety conference, run by road safety charity Brake, in London today.

Adam Pipe, spokesman for Essex Police, told the Essex Gazette: "It is the issue that means the most to people."

A video will also be screened at the conference and will be available to view on the internet which shows how Essex police are trying to change driver behaviour.

Meanwhile, motorists in Stockton have grouped together to protest at what they believe is an incorrect speed camera as drivers caught speeding may find their car insurance premiums are affected.

Each of the 47 drivers was caught by a camera that had been changed to clock cars going over 50 miles per hour, but the signs to inform motorists of the change were placed after the camera itself.
