More than 22 million
travel insurance customers from Britain will enjoy a holiday in the eurozone this year, new research has shown.
According to a study by First Rate Exchange Services, 58 per cent of the population plan on heading abroad at least once over the next 12 months, with the eurozone the favoured destination for 71 per cent of holidaymakers.
With hotel prices falling, many travel insurance customers will find their money will go further than in previous years, Gordon Gourlay, managing director of the company said.
"Lower tourist prices across the eurozone are extremely good news for the millions of UK holidaymakers who are set to make a return to traditional holiday destinations such as Spain and Portugal this year," he added.
More than 40 per cent of those heading abroad revealed they will withdraw cash at local ATMs, while 15 per cent plan to use travellers' cheques.
