Car Insurance: Ford cuts prices with immediate effect

Thursday, 27 November 2008

Motorists who are considering downsizing in a bid to cut the amount they spend on car insurance, fuel and road tax may be able to save even more money with Ford.

The manufacturer has announced it is to apply the 2.5 cut in VAT to its entire range with immediate effect, providing payment and legal transfers take place on or after the official start date of the reduction - December 1st.

As a result, buyers can expect to save approximately £200 on the new Fiesta.

Commenting on the cut in VAT, managing director Roelant de Waard said: "We are pleased that the government has taken such decisive action and we hope the tax reduction will encourage more customers to visit their local Ford dealership."

Meanwhile, existing owners who are looking to get their car repaired following a motor insurance claim should also benefit, as the price cut will be applied to parts and services as well.

Earlier this month, the new Ford Fiesta clinched the title of Scottish Car of the Year from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.
