Motor insurance: Garages should 'give more information'

Thursday, 04 October 2007

Reading garages need to show more transparency when divulging information about the work they have carried out on vehicles, a new study has found.

The Good Garage Scheme's findings said that 61 per cent of motorists would like garages to release a full checklist of all work undertaken, reports Get Reading.

Rachel Roberts, marketing manager at the scheme, stated that there are improvements that can be made, something that might concern those with motor insurance.

"This survey shows there's just no substitute for excellent service and good manners. The extra little touches that some garages might deem most important aren't necessarily the ones they'd like to see," she commented to the publication.

Motorists said they were most likely to return to a garage if it had friendly staff (39 per cent), while other said that a car wash would make them return (16 per cent).

In other news that may be of interest to those with car insurance, the Department for Transport recently said that more deaths were caused on rural than city roads last year.
