Car insurance: UK's Golden Garage revealed
Wednesday, 07 April 2010
Motor Codes' Golden Garages competition has come to an end with independent family-run repair centre, Kinghams of Croydon, being crowned the winner.
Choosing a good garage is crucial for motorists to ensure repairs are carried out to a high standard, resulting in fewer accidents and therefore, lower car insurance premiums.
The competition was launched by Motor Codes, the independent body that operates the largest consumer code for motorists in the UK, two months ago and thousands of garages have been whittled down to just one.
Research from the body found that more than 14 million drivers in the UK felt that they were short-changed by their local service and repair garage.
The search for the UK's Golden Garage was set up in a bid to reduce the number of dissatisfied motorists, making consumers more confident about the repair service they would receive.
People using a garage recommended by Motor Codes were satisfied with their service 90 per cent of the time, the research also showed.
