Travel insurance: 'Greece popular in 2008'

Monday, 03 March 2008

Greece could well be a popular holiday destination for tourists in 2008, according to new comments made by lastminute.com.

The country will do well in terms of tourism because of the "competitive prices" it offers and the choice available to consumers, predicted managing director John Bevan.

Alongside Greece, Morocco's Agadir and Spain are likely to see good performances in the travel sector over the coming months, Mr Bevan noted.

Furthermore, he remarked, China is going to benefit from the presence of the Olympics while Cape Verde is the destination to look out for.

He commented: "As for up and coming destinations, Cape Verde is an increasingly popular destination and China is becoming very popular with the Olympics."

By 2010, tourist arrivals in Greece could hit 19.4 million, the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises has stated.

And in Morocco, tourist numbers there hit 7.45 million in 2007, Morocco Properties has claimed.

Those travelling this year should ensure that they have adequate travel insurance in place.
