Green driving techniques can cut fuel costs

The MPG Marathon, an economic driving event, will be back in the UK this October.

According to organisers of the spectacle, car insurance customers can reduce their fuel bills and motoring costs by adopting greener habits when they are behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Running on October 5th and 6th, people can attend the event near Cirencester to test their eco-driving skills.

Ross Durkin, organiser of the MPG Marathon, said: "With energy costs rising across the board, it’s not surprising that motorists are increasingly looking for ways to get more miles out of every pound spent on fuel."

He added that using smarter green driving techniques can help people reduce their fuel bills by up to 20 per cent.

Recently, the Institute of Advanced Motorists told car insurance customers that reading the road more effectively and choosing the right gear change smoothly can help reduce them reduce energy costs.
