Car insurance: This week will see 'worst congestion of year'

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

People keen to protect their cheap car insurance premiums may want to prepare themselves for the fact roads are likely to be more congested than usual this Friday (October 23rd).

Trafficmaster has predicted many families across England and Wales will be looking to get away as autumn half term starts.

It also pointed out weather conditions as this time of year can be poor and could slow the flow of vehicles even further.

With lots of cars and lorries on the road and the possibility of downpours and strong winds, drivers may need to be particularly vigilant if they want to avoid accidents and subsequent motor insurance claims.

Drivers were advised to allow plenty of time for their journeys.

However, data manager at Trafficmaster Graham Smith pointed out there was a positive side.

"Some consolation for motorists is that commuter routes are likely to be much quieter than usual during the following week with no school runs," he stated.

Despite the warning of heavy congestion on roads this Friday, a previous report by Trafficmaster revealed the recession has resulted in a drop in the number of vehicles on UK highways.
