Travel insurance: Half-term looms so 'get covered'

Monday, 23 October 2006

Half-term is impending and parents are advised to check their travel insurance policy details if they are planning to go abroad with their kids.

Holidaymakers are reminded to take their policy details and contact numbers in case of an emergency.

One way of remembering these important numbers is to save them in your mobile phone because a recent poll by one insurer has revealed that 72 per cent of people take their mobile phones with them on holiday.

Jacky Brown, who compiled the poll, said: "Parents should make sure they cover themselves and their children by taking out travel insurance this half-term whether they're on UK or foreign soil."

She continued: "Holiday mishaps – especially where children are involved – can be disastrous and costly if the right cover isn't in place."

Each family in Britain spends approximately £400 on top of normal weekly costs in a bid to keep their young ones entertained, according to a study by Premier Travel Inn.
