Thanks to the launch of the government's Green Deal, the demand for heat pumps is set to soar across the country, one leading expert believes.

A representative for Husky Heat Pumps noted that the number of home insurance holders looking to invest in the new technology could greatly increase.

This is because individuals perceive the technology as a great long-term investment that is better than merely storing money in a bank account, as the heat pumps can actually make them money, he stressed.

However, homeowners who do decide to install a heat pump should get the experts in to prevent any mishaps in the home.

A typical family is able to save between £1,000 and £1,500 on an annual basis if they invest in the technology pump, the expert claimed.

The systems operate essentially as a form of air conditioning, but in reverse, with heat being extracted from the air outside of a building through the device to warm up the space on the inside.
