People enjoying a barbecue with friends this summer have been warned to take care, as they could represent a risk to
home insurance.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was recently called to a home near Nefyn, which was almost completely destroyed by fire after barbecue embers were placed in a wheelie bin, BBC News reports.
The news provider reports Huw Roberts of the fire service as saying: "It just goes to show how careful you need to be when discarding of barbecue embers.
"The incident destroyed property and possessions but it could easily have been worse and led to injury and the loss of life."
He went on to say that homeowners should always make sure a barbecue is set up safely and that the ashes are completely cold before being disposed of, while keeping a bucket of water or garden hose nearby could also prevent home insurance claims.
