Travel insurance: Loans could alleviate honeymoon costs

Wednesday, 06 August 2008

Couples arranging their wedding could find that a personal loan may help them pay for their honeymoon and subsequent travel insurance policy, it has been claimed.

The Thrifty Scot has stated that by gaining a secured loan deal, people could pay off costs for areas such as catering, as well as holiday costs.

It may also be that the money is used to cover the price of a travel insurance policy when they head off abroad after they marry.

But the company commented that people should be prepared to offer collateral on loans and also scour the market for a good deal.

"For a secured loan you need to have some sort of collateral, such as a car or a home. You will have a better chance of obtaining a higher amount of loan if you have collateral," said the firm.

Earlier this week, the Thrifty Scot commented that properties can be used as collateral for homeowners looking to gain a more attractive rate of interest on a loan.
