Hotel wetrooms prompting home contemplation?

Wednesday, 08 August 2012

It seems that hotel stays are prompting people to contemplate wetrooms, according to one expert.

Roger Crabb said that, for his organisation, Mira showers, wetrooms were a commonly seen trend. He called the rooms "very aspirational".

"People holiday abroad, stay in nice hotels and encounter the wetroom, which is basically a tile floor with a drain. So, they ask 'how can I achieve the wetroom look in my own bathroom?'" the marketing manager explained.

Perhaps some home insurance holders who have recently taken a break will recognise this wetroom-related process.

But Mr Crabb did add that putting one in wasn't easy, due to the fact that tiling on the walls as well as floors has to be made waterproof.

He offered a way of creating something that looks wetroom-like but is cheaper.

Mira showers had produced "a low-level shower tray" able to give "the illusion of a wetroom", he said, adding that this also gives the same advantages, when it comes to practicality, of drain-encompassing shower trays.
